Thriller, Thriller Night
An image of a young Michael Jackson that I drew, before he got all those awful surgeries. I just submitted this picture to be shown at an alumni exhibition, for DCAD. Hopefully it gets in, if not, no big deal. Now I'm going to start on my friend's bands drawing. Fun times. Going to Nashville and Florida this and next week, I'll take some pictures. Nashville has some beautiful architecture and I've never been to St. Pete's so I'm excited. Time to get out of the dreary rainy NYC and enjoy some beaches and sunshine. :)

Biddles
I wanted to do a red background with explosions of yellow here and there, but I started on the background layer in photoshop so I'd mess it up if I tried to do that now. It's still a fun little drawing, at least I think so.
I'm a PA for PFFR now and it's awesome. Everyone's super cool and nice. I get to do some 8-bit animation jawns for Xavier: The Renegade Angel. It's pretty sweet. Yeah. Wednesday is figure drawing, I need to get better before I post any of my drawrings from the sessions. Also drawing on the subway stinks especially in the morning when the N, W is a zoo. I can't believe they're jacking up prices in June. Oh well. Life goes on. I'm happy now and things're good. I need to take a trip soon and roll down some grassy hills. Maybe visit the Tracy or Gretel soon or both. That'd be mighty sweet. :D

Glorious
So I made home made cookies today. Yeah it's not really a drawing of any kind. But! These cookies are fun. I pulled out my cook book from the 50's and was craving cookies. So I said I'll make whatever cookie I can with the ingredients I have on hand. The cookie I found was called an Anzac. It sounded really exotic, but the recipe wasn't. So I looked them up! As it turns out it stands for Australian New Zealand Army Corps. They were invented down under and a bit above under during WWII. So the next time you're watching "Flight of the Conchords" have your friends over and you can make this very easy to make cookie and get into the spirit of things! :)
Anzac Cookie
You will need:
1 cup of flour
1 cup of sugar
1 cup of rolled oats
3/4 cup of shredded coconut
1/2 cup of butter
1 tbsp maple syrup
2 tbsp boiling water
1 1/2 tsps baking soda
preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Mix all the dry ingredients in a big bowl: flour, sugar, rolled oats, and coconut. In a small frying pan melt the butter and add the maple syrup, combine thoroughly. Take your boiling/hot water and combine it with the baking soda, then add it to the butter/syrup mixture, and then when cooled a bit add to the dry ingredients. Stir thoroughly, and if the mixture seems a bit crumble add a tiny bit more water, only a few drops should work. Grease a cookie sheet and make tbsp sized dollops, with enough space between the cookies for them to expand. Cook each batch for about 20 minutes. Let cool and then you're done! (this recipe comes from The Encyclopedia of Creative Cooking, which if you can get your hands on it, is an awesome cook book.)

color experiment
I decided to play with the layer functions in Photoshop. I feel as though I'm obsessed with textures now. I never really know what I want to draw. I usually draw girls, I'll have to practice drawing guys. I usually don't like drawing hands, but I felt as though I could experiment with them in some sort of disjointed space. I want to sample other drawing styles too, and I lost my old sketch book, maybe I'm lamenting that just a tad too much. The turtle kinda represents my childhood toy, Twittle, who I have in my apartment and still plays "It's a Small World After All." I've felt at a sort of creative impasse lately. I need to get sketching more often and play around and watch tutorials. If anyone has any suggestions or knows of a good tutorial that shows you how to get a good water color effect in Photoshop, let me know!

Cadillac Grillz
Alright, so updating weekly didn't quite work out as I had hoped. I drew this sugar glider, I want one some day... Anyway. I'll try to be better with this thing. I'm going to try and revamp my website, I've also started redoing my demo reel, it's a work in progress. You can see what I have so far here on youtube until I redo my website. I hope you enjoy this adorable creature and dream of it alighting into your life with all the rainbows and sprinkles and the pudding. Alright my friends, I promise not to draw something that is so generic next time. Come to my house for the supah bowl...I'm baking pumpkin pie. mmmm....boy!

My First sketch
I've decided to try and do a weekly sketch, creative blog. Where I either sketch or make something neat. This first one I got a little carried away with, it kind of reminds me of a cross between my sister, Beth and one of the Golden Girls. I've been pretty busy lately, but I'll try to keep up. Maybe sometimes talk about a movie or tv show as well. I've recently *started* watching Lost, and it's really addictive, I blew through season one in a weekend. If anyone wants me to do a specific drawing or has any ideas for an image, let me know! I am open to pretty much anything. Also, if you have any constructive criticism, that is appreciated also.
When I created this first image I was in a very 80's mood...perhaps I should have added shoulder pads? Next time I'm thinking of doing a drawing based upon a story that my friend once told me...
